Why do so many whales die in New Zealand?

Scientists aren’t really sure why so many whales were stranded on New Zealand’s beach. Some theories are that one of the whales got sick, or had sonar interference, and then they were trapped in the shallow water. It can get really hot in that area, which doesn’t help. Lots of conservation workers and even tourists helped to get some of the whales back out to sea.
