Why do so many people recycle in America compared to anywhere else?

While recycling rates in America is substantially higher than many countries, particularly third world ones, it does not have have the highest rate. The US currently recycles only 28% of its waste, doubled from a decade ago. Austria recycles up to 60% percent of its waste. The rise in recycling in the US though probably stems from more prevalent campaigns trying to get people to recycle and the rise of the ‘green’ movement which helps distribute information on the importance of recycling. With developing technologies and services it is also becoming much easier to actually recycle.
