The Jardin Japonais (Japanese Garden) refers to an area on the Island of Possesion near antiartica, so named by French researches because of its bolders and rivulets.  The area is a frequent breeding ground for colonies of penguins due to its close proximity to food and water and its nesting topography.  As many as 10,000 penguins mate at the Jardin Japonais each year.
