I suppose that’s because mackerel can be too strong-flavored, oily and bit smelly for some people. Another reason why some people dislike eating mackerel is because it doesn’t freeze well and rapidly detiorates once it is out of the water. Mackerel is actually one of the most common and cheapest fishes, and there is plenty of people who enjoy eating mackerel. I suppose it depends on who you know and the fishing area where one lives that helps mold this viewpoint.
