Why do people not make as much money with green jobs?

I think that salaries for green jobs are pretty comparable to those of other industries. According to SimplyHired, the average green job salary is $34,000. But a Reuters story “High-earning green sector workers feel safe in jobs,” says the average green job salary is $76,000. Two reasons they may be lower are demand—more people want green jobs than the field can sustain and two, because so many people want these jobs, they may be willing to earn less.

While COEs at some for-profit companies make millions or tens of millions annually, those are usually huge, well-established companies. Few, if any green businesses have become that big. However, larger companies are also starting to hire green executives with salaries in the $100,000s.
