why do pelicans soar along a wave in the ocean?

Usually, pelicans soar along close to the surface of the ocean because this is the way that they catch food, various fish, for nourishment. This is one of the reasons that pelicans have such enormous beaks, as it is easier for the birds to capture its prey by diving head-first into the water and scooping up the fish in their beaks.
