Why do fish migrate?

Fish migration is a fantastic example of the inate ability of animals to provide for themselves what they require for the furthering of their species.  Some migrations patterns occur daily, while some fish follow migration patterns on an annual scale.  Though the exact reason hasnt been discovered yet, the assumption is that it relates to either food availability or for the purposes of reproduction.
