A lizard is a cold blooded animal. Cold blooded animals will lie in the sun to increase their metabolism. Their temperatures are dependant upon the temperature of their surroundings. They will lie in the sun to increase their temperature, and then go to the shade to decrease their temperature if they are too warm.
