Why do investors want a climate bill?

“Banks, pension funds and other investment groups representing more than $13 trillion in assets called for a strong global agreement on climate policy on Wednesday, saying it would lead to a flood of investment into the low-carbon economy.”
A climate bill would help investors by encouraging the shift from a fossil fuel based economy to a green economy. The new technologies needed to make this shift are those the investors are looking to invest in, but do not have the confidence currently because the future of renewable energy is influenced immensely by the climate bill. If it passes, goals of reducing carbon emissions will certainly reduce the production of energy from coal and oil while encouraging renewable energy.
