Why do Halibut get so much larger in Alaska?

There is less development in Alaska and less contaminants that are caused by human activity practices. With less over fishing industries in Alaska it allows for the fish to an advantage, and they have more time to grow where in other cases they would have been fished out before reaching full maturity.
