Why do frogs pee when you pick them up?

Frogs pee as a defense mechanism. They release a foul odor to get you to put them down again.

Frogs are hunted by lots of animals, and the function of urination is meant as a chemical distrasction so the frog can escape a sticky situation. Obviously as humans we are more grossed out by it than distracted by the chemicals released, but whatever works.
