Why do farms look circular in parts of the world, but pretty square here?

    The circles are a result of farming technique called center-pivot irrigation farming. The idea is that they are more efficient in various aspects like runoff erosion control, reducing wind penetration, a 50% reduction in row-end turns compared to parallel row farming (squar/rectangle) patterns. They also offer the ability to irrigate fields that have surface slopes that make it impossible or impractical to irrigate otherwise.
