Why do dolphin do acrobatic tricks in the wild?

Dolphins are naturally curious and playful creatures that perform acrobatic tricks to interact socially, play, or communicate. Additionally, dolphins respond to taught behavior; as exemplified by Billie, a dolphin who was in captivity for a short while and taught the wild dolphins the tricks she learned while in captivity.
