I don’t think that drinking water does anything to actually cure a cold, but according to the MayoClinic, it can help you feel better while your body does the work. Drinking water can help loosen congestion, which can alleviate sinus pain and coughing. It also helps you from getting dehydrated, which makes congestion worse.
When you’re sick, there is risk of dehydration. Therefore, it is recommended that a person who is ill drink a lot of fluids.
