Autism is believed to occur in clusters of where parents are older, have higher education and are white. It is thought that these clusters are not due to chemical exposure or pesticides but is rather due to more testing and diagnosis of autism. Areas where the clusters do not occur likely just have less diagnosis. In particular, Hispanic populations are underrepresented, likely because of an unwillingness to bring attention to the problem and get the children tested.
