Other incentives such as, expensive parking permits, not wanting to fight for parking spaces, carpooling with housemates/roommates, and walking/biking to campus as a healthier alternative are possible reasons to explain why college students utilize public transportation often. Public transportation provided by the university are usually part of the college tuition, so many students use this to their advantage. Also, university-operated transportation come frequently and have several bus lines that can travel to many areas within the city. For instance, University of California of Davis has a very popular bus system used by locals and students alike, called Unitrans, and have at least 10 bus lines running frequently and even on weekends; it travels to most areas in Davis, making it easy and convenient to go around the city.
