Outdoor cats typically shed twice a year, once in the spring to shed their heavy winter coat and again in the fall to allow that winter coat to grow in. Cats also shed hair to remove dead hair. Because of confused indoor conditions, such as air conditioning in the summer, indoor cats shed all year. Shedding is a sign of your cat’s health as sick cats do not shed.
