Why do bill fish swim so fast?

  1. 0 Votes

Billfish swim so fast because of their long sleek bodies and powerful tails. However, the root of their fast swim is the fact that they are a predatory fish and catch most of their prey while it is moving. Therefore they are fast because they’ve needed to be fast for a long time.

Billfish rely on their speed to catch prey. For example, swordfish can reach up to 56mph, and their speed is attributed to their being warm-blooded, which allows not only their muscles but also their brain and eyes to work more efficiently.
