Why do B vitamins give you energy?

B-vitamins give you energy because they turn carbohydrates into glucose, essentially transferring the energy that is in food into your body. They increase the rate at which chemical reactions that are necessary for this to happen occur in the body (a catalyst).  There are many types of B vitamins, and they help with a range of healthy bodily functions.
