Some analysts may argue that Americans have lost some appreciation of the culture of a meal. For many people, we eat just for instant satisfaction. Cooking is also much less frequent of an activity for families, so going out to eat becomes a feeding event. Food portions are glorified because people want more grease and comfort food to satisfy their cravings.
America’s obesity rate is around 25 percent, meaning that one in four of Americans consumes more food than is required for a healthy lifestyle. Some of these people could really enjoy food and have a hard time showing self control when it comes to eating. Others may have a serious problem that causes them to eat. Some people eat to deal with emotional problems, peer pressure, depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues.
