Why do American consumers avoid Clean Diesel vehicles?

Diesel cars have a pretty bad reputation in the U.S. People tend to think of them as loud, stinky, exhaust-spewing, environmentally-harmful vehicles. While this is fairly true as of a years ago, diesel cars are making a comeback as a fuel-efficient, clean and reliable vehicle. But the stigma of old diesel cars has meant that new, clean diesel vehicles aren’t something that consumers are ready to buy into.
