Why do all electric cars have such a longer range than the Volt?

I’m not quite sure what you mean by a longer range, but the Volt is different from other electric vehicles because it does not run on gas for the first 40 miles. Instead, the Volt uses the charge from the lithium ion battery, which must be charged over night, to run for the first 40 miles, and after this gasoline is used to charge the battery. The stunning car gets 230 miles per gallon, and has a pretty sleek design. If I had the money–the car costs around $40,000–I would buy it–even over the Prius.
