Why didn’t turtles go extinct when the dinosaurs did?

We don’t really know for certain why the dinosaurs went extinct. It may have been a meteor, it may have been a worldwide flood, or it may simply have been too many large predators and not enough natural resources; these are the three main theories, anyway. As turtles are smaller and spend most of their life underwater, none of these, even an ashy atmosphere, would affect them too badly. We can’t know for certain, unfortunately, be we can theorize.
