Why did we start using nuclear power without understanding the effects?

The same could be said of fossil fuels, the current climate crisis now on top of us – hindsight is 20/20, Often their is pressure for development of a technology without a full grasp of its potential hazards, the big push for nuclear came in the original post industrial energy crisis a few decades hence – and resulted in many institutions worldwide seeking quick alleviation from high energy prices. It isn’t the first time humanity has moved into a new technological area without full understanding or lifetime analysis, and it wasn’t the last.
