Why did Seattle turn down the bag fee?

    One main reason that the voters of Seattle decided against the bag fee was the fact that the opponents of the bag fee had much more money to campaign against the practice, and were able to get their message out easier than those supporting the bag fee. The opponents of the bag fee were led by the American Chemistry Council, and they spent 15 times the money on advertising against the fee compared to the supporters of the bag fee. The supporters of the bag fee are now looking for a new way to go about getting plastic and paper bags to be used less in Seattle.
