Why did that researcher at the University of South Carolina develop a robotic mussel?

    If you mean robotic muscle, then the researcher developed it to forward technology in prosthetic limbs, allowing amputees better control of their appendages after recovery. If you actually do mean ‘robotic mussel’, then that would be to filter water, although I don’t think a robotic shellfish would have many applications, and a simple water filter would be more cost effective than a robotic mussel.
