When are you specificaly talk about?
Population in Africa varies by country. Overall, it’s steadily increasing due to high fertility rate and the need to reproduce and make up for lost lives. Although access to birth control, hygene, and medications have helped it stabalize in some respects. There is still and cultural idea that men dominate in sexual relationships, so they oftn decide whether or not condoms are used (never). This has lead to more pregnancy, but also more AIDS and thus more death.
