Aside from him picking up his Nobel Prize, the main reason he was considering not going to the Copenhagen Summit is that the Senate had delayed voting and discussion of the current American climate legislation. But recent confirmations about the dangers of greenhouse gases from the EPA, the U.S. has finally vowed to a minimum of 17% reduction of 2005 levels by 2020. Before these findings, he would have gone to Copenhagen with no negotiation chips and no promises for a stance on the current climate change.
