The G77, which represents 130 developing nations walked out of the COP 15 talks in Copenhagen on Monday, December 14th, during the second week of talks in the critical climate negotiations. The G77 pulled the “emergency plug” in protest of wealthier nations, such as the United States, refusing to discuss a legally binding treaty. The G77 also walked out on the walks because developed nations, including Australia, Japan, and Canada, because the negotiations had begun to focus on a framework for agreements besides the standing Kyoto protocol, a framework which provides for legally binding emissions reductions by rich countries.
