Why did it take so long for China to start using the green energy they were producing?

The answer can go pretty deep but it can be summed up quite easily: they couldn’t afford it. China is still growing into an economic and production giant and the people are poor simply exporting the nice, expensive things to the rich more economically established countries. It does sound crazy that they are producing and were not really using the green technology but they had more interest in building an industrial infrastructure that they knew could yield a quicker profit. Now however with the take-off of the industry they are starting to use it and on a massive scale; as well as the people, as there is the new possibility of a middle-class in China – crazy talking about the bourgeoisie in Communist China, but it is coming if not already here – and with the middle-class’ new-found money will come some purchases including some green energy.
