Jeff Hollender left Seventh Generation over a power struggle with the new chief executive on where to take the company. In 2009, Hollender stepped down as CEO and was replaced by Chuck Maniscalco, a former executive of PepsiCo who has a reputation for heavily increasing company profits. Hollender was still an active member of Seventh Generations’ board when he and Maniscalco clashed on how fast Seventh Generation should expand. Hollender was removed from the board and his relationship with the company was terminated (The New York Times, 2011).
