Why did Greenpeace make an animation about Facebook?

    Greenpeace launched a campaign during the spring of 2011 to try to get Facebook to “unfriend” coal. Facebook’s massive data centers rely on large amounts of power which they get from coal burning power plants.  Greenpeace’s goal was to lobby Facebook to change they’re energy source from which they get their power to a renewable source.  The animation was part of that campaign.  The campaign itself was most likely prompted by Googles recent efforts to “green” their data centers.
