Why did the EPA decide to get rid of the Volts 230 MPG rating?

The EPA has not yet come up with a standard MPG rating system for electric vehicles and therefore cannot officially rate the Volt or the Leaf. The 230 MPG rating was based on the fact that most people would drive within the 40 mile range of the Volt between charging. A better way to judge these vehicles might be to rate kilowatt/hour to see how efficient these cars are with electricity.
