Last month the Institute of Public and Environmental Affairs in Beijing, China, released reports that Apple suppliers in the country frequently dump hazardous waste into communities. They claimed that 27 of the company’s Chinese suppliers were found in violation of Chinese environmental laws. Apple has claimed that they do examine and cite their Chinese factories for violations frequently, but the IPEA is stating Apple is not taking enough responsibility and isn’t upholding its claim to be a “green company.”
A Chinese environmental group accused Apple of lax supplier oversight for allegations that the employee’s working conditions were way below an acceptable level. There are also other reports against Apple, claiming that the company isn’t honoring their commitment for a safe and environmentally friendly environment.
