Why is corn so heavily subsidized?

Good question! Like many subsidies, the subsidies on corn are the result of lobbying by powerful corporations who want a piece of the pie. Corn is more heavily subsidized than other crops due to its potential to be turned into biofuels. Even though there are better options for powering our cars and economic forces have shown that electric cars are the best option, miracles tend to happen when you live in The Best Democracy Money Can Buy. Corn subsidies are widely regarded by the public as a dumb idea, but of course what do we know?
