With cloud computing, internet services and data are centralized in a flexible, accessible service network based on the internet. Its main benefit is that it reduces the lag and cost of IT service upgrades and fixes. Its really about virtualization, the essence of the computer/information age. With software and technology changing as rapidly as it is, cloud computing offers dynamic and responsive connections when software services are needed. Furthermore, services are offered on pay-per-use basis, making it more cost efficient than a traditional data center. Because it is a shared pool of resources, some argue that it may not be as safe as traditional data centers, but this may change with the evolution of private cloud computing.
