Many people, particularly those who are religious, feel that the scientist is “playing God” when they clone a human being or animal. Since the prominent religious belief is that only God can create life, creating a life using science is considered immoral.
One reason why cloning might be considered immoral is that it is an attempt at reaching immortality. If let loose in that direction, people could potentially clone themselves to ensure that their exact genes reach the next generation. As for something more realistic that could actually happen, something on the order of “My Sister’s Keeper” or the movie “The Island” might happen where people clone themselves so that whenever something goes wrong with their body, they have a clone to take an organ or marrow from.
