why is the CIA interested in climate change?

The CIA is interested in information with respect to national security interests. Climate change poses a threat not only to the US mainland, but also to bases and citizens abroad as well. In addition, as the US looks to enter into international agreements on climate policy this December, the Government will need information to inform policy makers what decisions are in the country’s best interest to make. Finally, the CIA already has a large infrastructure of information gathering methods in place that can be expanded to provide insight into climate change as well.
