Why is chimp smuggling so apparent in Africa?

Chimp smuggling is very widespread in Africa, specifically in Cameroon.  The reason is that for this is because they can be sold for the equivalent of 100 USD in Cameroon and 20,000 USD on the international black market.  Either of those figures is a fortune for a very poor family in Africa, so people will go to great lengths to capture them.
