The Center for Biological Diversity is a watchdog environmental organization that focuses much of its efforts on making sure the government is doing its job by protecting endangered and threatened species. This means that when a state or federal government body fails at this job, the Center is sometimes forced to sue them into doing the right thing. Because the US Fish and Wildlife Service is charged with protecting the nation’s animal life, the Center for Biological Diversity interacts frequently with it, and sometime has to challenge the Service on decisions the Center feels were poorly made. In a recent case, the Center warned the US Fish and Wildlife Service last month that it will have to sue the Service if it does not create a better recovery plan for the endangered Mexican gray wolf.
