The idea behind the carbon tax is to give incentive to people to invest in renewable energy. The carbon tax charges companies and producers of fossil fuels for the carbon dioxide (CO2) that is produced in the emissions of burning these fuels. This ties in directly to climate change induced by man-made industry, transportation, and burning of fuels that produce “greenhouse gases” that retain the heat of the Sun in the Earth’s atmosphere. According to carbontax.org, the money derived from this tax is set to go towards funding projects that promote and fund renewable energy sources in the USA to accelerate the transitions from fossil fuels to renewable ones.
