Why cant all disposable cutlery be biodegradable?

Disposable cutlery didn’t used to be biodegradable because people didn’t know any better. There were no limits to consumption for a long time and people didn’t see the ultimate toll that it took on the world. Now that we have an awareness of what waste can amount to, the lack of biodegradability has to do with it being a cheaper option and also because consumers still support the old way. If businesses aren’t forced to change by consumer decisions, then they will continue to make products that are cheap to produce, even if it’s not best for the environment.
