Trees bark and leaves are composed of different substances. Tree bark is composed of dense substances for a stiff structure and this includes mainly lignin and polysaccharides. The main reason leaves are green is because of the presence of chlorophyll A, which is a photolytic substance to assist in photosynthesis.
