Why are we losing so much of our biodiversity in our oceans?

There are several factors involved in the loss of ocean biodiversity.  These include:

    Changing water temperatures

    Invasive species

Dead zones, areas that lack enough oxygen to support life, often due to agricultural pollution that causes massive algal blooms.  When all the algea die and decompose, they use up the oxygen in the water.

Ocean acidification, which makes it more difficult for shelled organisms to build their shells.
