Why are some funguses poisonous?

    Some fungi use poison for many reasons, the most common being to avoid predation. By producing bitter tastes or poisonous toxins, plants and fungi can avoid being eaten by appearing distasteful to those that approach it. Secondly, toxins are a common by-product of many biological process these fungi must undergo.
