Why are solar projects facing law suits in California?

    Recently, the state of California approved the Calico Solar Project, which is a plan for a facility that would include 30 thousand, 25-kilowatt solar dishes in San Bernardino County. The Sierra Club and other environmental organizations have filed lawsuits against this project because it is supposed to be built on land that belongs to the Bureau  of Land Management. However, in April the California Supreme Court threw out two of the lawsuits against the project.
