not always – but a lot of the time
In general, I would say that a ripe blueberry is better when it is of a smaller variety rather than larger variety. There could be many reasons for this. Many mass-produced fruits have pesticides and may be designed to produce bigger fruit, all the while loosing flavor and health benefits. In a smaller ripe fruit, the juices are going to be more concentrated, and if the plant is wild or locally grown (not mass-produced) then it will probably produce a fruit that grows to its natural size. I find that same thing with grocery store strawberries and strawberries from my garden. There is no beating home-grown.
