why are rainforests considered tropical?

    Not all rainforests are tropical. The Pacific Northwest is a rainforest but is in a temperate climate. All rainforest means is that the area receives 68-78 inches of annual rainfall.
    All tropical means is that it is located in the tropics (between the tropic of Cancer and Capricorn) But a large portion of the are located within this section of the earth because of wind and weather patterns.
