Plastics are bad for both human health and the environment. Plastic is harmful to the environment for a myraid of reasons. First, plastic can last a long time and can sit in landfills for decades. In addition, plastic that is buried in landfills can pollute groundwater with harmful chemicals. These chemicals can also make wildlife and marine life species sick if ingested. Furthermore, plastic can serve as a transportation device to species who may end up in unfamiliar environments and thus, plastic can disrupt the ecosystem. Last but not least, the production of plastic uses up fossil fuels.
