Paddlefish aren’t so much “important” as they are a marvel of evolution. According to the Montana State Government, they are the “oldest big game animal surviving in North America.” There’s evidence that paddlefish may have been around for millions of years. Nowadays they’re a popular game fish, while their population remains at a strong number.
